Ah, the Disney universe. Land of women who, until recently, relied upon men to save their dainty butts. It's amazing that Disney has started to embrace the idea that women can be their own knight in shining armor, but even in films like Frozen, there's a man waiting in the wings as a love interest once the carnage is over. We're not hating on men; we love you guys, seriously. We're just saying that it would be nice for Disney to one day play into the reality that some women find other women to be significantly more sexy (read: marriage material) than men.
Now we don't have to merely imagine a world like that because Tumblr artist simonbaz decided to give us all a beautiful introduction into the "what if" of a Disney universe where the princes aren't even a factor while the princesses find perfect soul mates in each other.
Here are the Disney couples she came up with, along with the backstories and gorgeous GIF sets she created to make an entire love story in only a few frames:
1. Mulan and Belle
Mulan said it first: brainy is the new sexy! And Belle has one hell of an IQ. Gaston couldn't ever hope to keep up with a chick who appreciates Belle for much more than her looks, and Shang should probably have picked up a book or two if he wanted to keep Mulan's attention; a buff body and war tactics aren't gonna cut it. And wait, didn't Mulan technically do the whole "saving China" thing without much of his help? It's clear these two smart, strong, beautiful and independent women are made for each other.
2. Ariel and Nani
Land meets water in the most epic of ways when a mermaid falls for a surfer, and vice versa! It's a match made in heaven—or underwater. Whatever sinks your boat! (Get it?)
3. Meg and Esmeralda
So much sassy and sexy in one couple. It's almost too much to handle. When Disney's two sultriest seductresses meet, sparks undoubtedly fly. Sorry, Hercules. Not so sorry, Frollo, because you're a creep.
4. Esmeralda and Tiana
Every great restaurant needs talent to help draw in the customers, so it's no wonder these two were imagined together. They would be such a power couple, making bank off of the best business in New Orleans, no prince needed. Naveen can take his admittedly beautiful but unnecessary butt elsewhere.

•Pocahontas and Snow White, because they've got that (literal) animal magnetism.
•Rapunzel and Merida because no one fights better than a girl with her trusty bow or frying pan, and can you just imagine the trouble these two would get into together? Plus, #hairgoals.
