Chin up, Walking Dead fans. All hope might not yet be lost.

Tonight's episode of the AMC zombie blood fest was possibly the most devastating episode yet as fan-fave character Glenn (Steven Yeun) might have bitten the dust

The way the horrific scene was filmed, it was kind of unclear as to whether he was actually dead. He's probably dead, but you had best believe we will cling to even the slightest possibility that Glenn might not have just had his organs ripped out by walkers.

No one involved with the show appeared live on tonight's post-episode Talking Dead, but executive producer Scott Gimple did issue a statement for host Chris Hardwick to read on-air.

"Dear fans of The Walking Dead," it began. "This is a hard story to tell, and when we were planning to tell it, we know our friends at The Walking Dead would be talking to you about it, and we knew we should say something about it, lest our silence say something we didn't mean to say or not say. So I'll say this: In some way, we will see Glenn, some version of Glenn, or parts of Glenn again, either in flashback, or in the current story, to help complete the story."

So, basically, we know nothing, but at least we now have something to theorize about all week long.

We're especially bothered by the reference to "parts," as if all we see of him in the next episode is just the body parts that the walkers didn't want to eat.

We, however, are determined to not think like that. We are pretty sure the walkers were only eating Nicholas, and as soon as they're done with Nicholas, they're going to be full, and they won't feel like eating Glenn. That's how walkers work right?

On the other hand, we would feel totally tricked if Glenn makes it out of this, because he looked totally dead. If Glenn can survive falling to the ground in a horde of walkers, then couldn't anyone survive almost anything on this show?

For the stakes to continue to feel high enough to keep us emotionally invested, the deaths have to stick, and so do the situations that would normally be absolutely fatal for characters we didn't care about. If that were any lesser character than Glenn, there would be no question of his death, and we wouldn't even be having this conversation right now.

So here's our theory: Glenn is dead, but Maggie's pregnant. That way, a part of Glenn lives on, and not in a creepy disembodied hand sort of way. It'll be devastating of course, but when is this show not?
