Lamar Odom's recovery continues in California, and it seems to be going smoothly thus far.

Yesterday, the former NBA star was discharged from Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas and transported via helicopter to a Los Angeles-area facility. Khloe Kardashian was photographed exiting the hospital, and she has continued to remain by her ex's side as he recovers since coming out of a coma on Friday.

As of right now, E! News learns that Lamar is expected to be in the hospital for a while, with no immediate plans for him to be discharged; however, his health is improving. "Every day he is getting a bit better, but he is continuing to have extensive tests on his cognitive and motor functions, so no one can make a definitive diagnosis yet" a source tells us, and adds, "He is more coherent day by day."

Odom is currently being treated for aspiration pneumonia, and although there have been confirmed reports of kidney damage, E! News learns that there's no transplant expected as yet. Doctors will continue him on dialysis for now. In addition, we're told the former Los Angeles Lakers player is spending "a lot of the day sleeping" and "his speech is becoming clearer."

Lamar was seen being rushed into an L.A. area hospital on a gurney last night. He appeared to be sedated, and Khloé was right behind him with two bodyguards. We're told his children, Destiny Odom and Lamar Odom Jr., along with their mother, Liza Morales, are expected to visit Odom in L.A. soon.

"The past week has been incredibly difficult. I am so thankful to family, friends and fans, who have sent nothing but prayers and well wishes to Lamar," Khloé said in a statement on her website earlier today. "I also want to take a moment to thank everyone at Sunrise Hospital, including the amazing doctors and nurses for their kindness and diligent work.

"Under their amazing care, incredible strides have been made. You can never be prepared for an experience like this, but without the outpouring of love and endless prayers that Lamar has received and the strength I was given from my loved ones, it would have been difficult to endure. Thank you for your continued support. God is great!!!"
