If you ignore the final 30 seconds of the first 10 minutes of Up, Carl and Ellie's relationship is one of the most beautiful love stories in cinema history. And thankfully, we have this elderly couple celebrating their 60th anniversary to remind us that Carl and Ellie's kind of love is totally attainable.
YouTube's Jason Lyle Black filmed this video of his grandma and grandpa recreating classic moments from Up to honor their wedding anniversary, including the tennis-ball cane and the Adventure Book. It's all set to Carl and Ellie's theme song from Up (an arraignment written by Black), and when she lays her head on his shoulder while he plays the piano, well, just try and keep your heart from melting into a gooey pile of mush.
"My grandparents were very excited to be part of this video," Black says. "It was so fun to work with them on it. I've loved their piano duets ever since I was a little kid, so this will be a family treasure for all of us."
This is the kind of #relationshipgoal we like to see.
