Just weeks after 18-year-old daughter Chelsea revealed new details about her home life with the famed comedian, Rosie O'Donnell is offering her own insight into her broken relationship with her adopted daughter.

During a stand-up performance at New York City's Gotham Comedy Club on Saturday, O'Donnell wore her heart on her sleeve as she took a few minutes to reflect on her family's recent notoriety, which the star claims was a long time in the making.

"I love all of my kids. My daughter has been in the news. It's been in the news, but it's not news to the family. It's been a decade long," Rosie said during her performance. "As Mom, my wish is for love and peace and wait until it's done."

The 53-year-old former The View co-host is of course referring to the reports that rocked the media of Chelsea's disappearance in late August. The teen, who was 17-years-old at the time, stopped taking her medication and left home with her therapy dog, Bear. She was later found alive in New Jersey living with 26-year-old Steven Sheerer, who had been arrested previously for heroin possession.

Chelsea later told The Daily Mail her adopted mother was to blame, alleging that she had been the one to kick her out of the house in the first place.

"Chelsea just turned 18. For adopted children 18 is a magic number," she added. "At 18 they're gonna rebel any way they can, any way they can get your attention."

Chelsea is O'Donnell's daughter with divorcee Kelli Carpenter. The former couple are also parents to Blake Christopher O'Donnell and Vivienne Rose O'Donnell.

The mother of five went even further, continuing to comment on her own lifelong struggles with depression.

"I know about mental illness— I have my own," Rosie said, adding that her struggle began when she was 20 years old. She is currently taking antidepressants to combat it. "I thought mental illness was failure of my character, not my chemistry."

O'Donnell's strained relationship with her estranged daughter is causing her extreme grief, especially now that she no longer lives with the former talk show host.

"I keep thinking I see Chelsea," she later told a fan in the audience. "When your kid isn't there you see them everywhere."

Still, she feels she has no choice but to continue moving forward.

"What choice do you have but to get through?" she said. "I have four other kids."
