Runway shows may have come and gone, but the after-effects have major staying power providing us with inspiration for days.

In addition to opening our eyes to new makeup trends (like surprisingly wearable two-tone eye shadow), our eyes were plastered on intricate-looking updos, most notably of the throwback, twisted variety. "Twisted hairstyles as seen on the runways are making a big comeback this season," said celeb hairstylist Suzie Kim. At NYFW we saw roped ponytails at Public School, high twisted-spike buns at Tanya Taylor (shown above) and twisted-down styles at Nicole Miller.

With variations of the trend all making the rounds on the heads of celebs like Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Zendaya and Anna Kendrick, the prevalence of the twisted accent will be hard to ignore this season. Since the versatile style is the perfect polished addition to your holiday hairstyles, Suzie walks us through how to get a runway-inspired, at-home version.

1. To start, separate the top section of the hair at the crown of the head and temporarily clip away in to a small bun on top of the head.

2. Starting with the bottom half, begin dividing hair vertically in sections of varying sizes to create twists. "Instead of gathering even sections for each twist, mix it up with skinny and thick pieces so it's less precise," noted the pro.

3. Using a hair wax (Suzie loves Joico Creme Wax Texture & Shine), run the product through each twist before twisting hair sections up towards the crown. "If your hair is really clean, the product will help hold the twist in place," advised Suzie.

4. For each twist, twist from the base of your neck as you move up. "Start incorporating more hair into the twist, so it sticks to the scalp," advised the expert.

5. "When you get as high as you want the bun to be, that's where you stop twisting," said Suzie.

6. Clip each completed twist to the head with a temporary clip so that it doesn't unravel.

7. Repeat as needed from ear to ear until all hair is twisted up.

8. Once the twists are completed, unclip the top bun and gather the entire ponytail into one hand.

9. Once you have a firm grip on the ponytail, use your other hand to remove all the clips that are holding the twists.

10. Continuing to hold onto the ponytail, use your other hand to comb through and smooth out the top section.

11. Once the ponytail looks the way that you want it to, secure into a tight ponytail with an elastic tie.

12. Once secured, tease the tail of the ponytail to create volume.

13. Once the tail is all teased, start twisting it around the base to create a bun.

14. Be sure to bobby pin the bun into place as you go. "If your hair is thick and long twist the hair before starting to wrap the bun, but if your hair is in on the shorter side tease the tail a lot and don't twist it as much," advised the stylist.

15. Once bun is secure use hairspray to spray in place.
