Weddings can be super expensive, so there's often little wiggle room for random guests…unless that random guest happens to be the President of the United States.

Such was the case for newlyweds Brian and Stephanie Tobe over the weekend!

The couple got married at the Torrey Pines golf course in San Diego on Sunday where President Barack Obama happened to be finishing up a round—just in time for their wedding!

While the couple had been informed that POTUS would be in town, they didn't think he would actually be at the same exact golf course on which they planned to tie the knot.

"We're like, 'Nah, he's not going to end up here,'" Brian told KGTV. But when they arrived at the course, they saw SUVs and secret service everywhere. "So then we knew he was on the course."

When Obama finally reached the 18th hole—nearby where the altar was set up—the wedding party and guests were ushered inside a nearby lodge where they lined up against the windows to try to catch a glimpse.

"Once we saw him coming up  I...plastered myself against the window, because we had been forced inside, they weren't allowing us out on the balcony," Stephanie recalled. "I was just hoping that they'd notice my wedding dress!"

He did! And as soon as he finished his last putt, she saw people shaking his hand and wanted to make sure she didn't miss her opportunity. Brian says she literally took off in an "all-out sprint in heels and wedding dress."

As if the special day wasn't already emotional enough, Stephanie says the once-in-a-lifetime experience added to that.

"I actually started crying; I was crying as I'm running up there," she said. "You are just overwhelmed with emotion."

President Obama—who recently celebrated his 23rd wedding anniversary—gave him their well wishes. "He said congrats and good luck," Stephanie recalled.

But he had a bit of advice for Brian: "He saw my foot on the train of the wedding dress, and he said, ‘Oops! Can't put your foot on the wedding dress there!' Good advice, pretty funny."

Though POTUS did not actually attend the wedding, the wedding photographer caught the whole thing on camera, and the memories will last a lifetime.
