Penguin's dad is Pee-Wee Herman. Paul Reubens will play father to Robin Lord Taylor on Gotham this season. Paul Reubens and Carol Kane? What a delightfully wacky family.

"Big news: Paul Reubens will be playing Penguin's father in @Gotham," Taylor tweeted. "Unreal. I have the best tv parents. Legends."

Reubens' casting was announced by Taylor at New York Comic Con. And fans with knowledge of Batman movie and TV lore know this isn't the first time Reubens has played papa to the Batman villain, he previously appeared as Penguin's father in the 1992 flick Batman Returns. That Penguin was of course played by the iconic Danny DeVito.

Reubens recent TV credits include The Blacklist, Portlandia and tons of voice work. He previously voiced The Riddler in Robot Chicken: DC Comics Special and Bat-Mite in Batman: The Brave and the Bold. He'll return to the character of Pee-Wee Herman with Netflix's Pee-Wee's Big Holiday.

In tonight's episode of Gotham, Captain Barnes (Michael Chiklis) and Gordon team-up to make the Gotham City Police Department a law-abiding task force. Meanwhile, Penguin does a favor for Galavan (James Frain) and Nygma (Cory Michale Smith) asks Kringle on a date.

Gotham airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on Fox.
