Blessed be thy name, Duck Face. We shall never forget thee. We'll always be grateful for your contributions to society.

Let's all take a moment and remember the Duck Face. How it gave even the most thin-lipped women the face of Kylie Jenner. How it united women across the globe in their mission to take selfies without ever showing a hint of tooth. We're thankful for our time with the Duck Face, but we're mostly thankful for the fact that we'll never have to worry about how stupid we look making the Duck Face again.

According to none other than Cosmopolitan, the once-popular selfie trend is now totally over. Gone. Donezo. Kaput. It's time to officially usher in the era of the Fish Gape.

Now sure, that's a weird a-- name for a pose. But so is "duck face," so whatever. The Fish Gape is basically the lazy person's Duck Face—you go halfway and just stop there. The result is a more loose-lipped, slightly toothy situation. It sounds weird, but trust that it's much more flattering, if not much trickier to master.

Cosmo discovered that all of the hot young celebs have been making the fish gape lately. Hailee SteinfeldSelena GomezShay Mitchell! They're all posting selfies that look like they stopped mid-sentence to take a super sexy picture and/or are about to take a bite of food kale.

& that's a wrap. ??

And they're not the only ones! You don't have to be famous to do the fish gape. Even (gasp) regular people are trying it. And by regular people, we of course mean non-model quasi-celebrities.

We can't say that we've tried this new technique ourselves because we feel like we were just getting the hang of the duck face, but we feel much more optimistic about this trend than we did its predecessor. After all, we know how to take a picture just as we're eating. Whether we'll look like Gigi Hadid, well, that's a different story. But we'll certainly enjoy looking at Instagram a lot more now.
