Could this be true—could the e-book finally be surpassing hardcovers?

It physically pains us to say this, but it sounds like the new digital release of the Harry Potter series might just come close. Now of course, nothing will surpass the magic of a real, live book. The smell of the pages, the ability to carry it around with you wherever you go...it's all irreplaceable.

But just take a second to listen to all the awesome features of the new HP e-books. Starting November 9, the series is finally going to be available on Apple products, and the publisher decided to spruce up the format a bit to celebrate the special occasion. It was a pretty necessary move, though, because until the only digital versions of the Potter stories were found on J.K. Rowling's website Pottermore, where the experience included things like getting to pick out your own wand or getting sorted into a Hogwarts house.

But the Apple iterations will not disappoint. The books will include annotated notes from Rowling herself, featuring unique input and funny factoids. They'll also boast custom covers and interactive illustrations (like a waving quill, say). So you may as well be sitting at Hogwarts reading The Standard Book of Spells

The books will be available for as little as $9.99 and can be preordered starting today. Not too shabby, Harry.
