Ugh, we're sad this is even a thing. Ashley VanPevenage became the victim of a nasty viral meme that you may have seen floating around the Internet. Two pictures of her face are displayed side by side, one photo showing her makeup-free skin, and the other, her face after a friend did her makeup. The Internet had a lot to say about her beauty transformation, with one person commenting they didn't believe the photos were of the same person.
The woman admitted in her response video that she was once fond of memes until the joke was on her. Soon after, she was forced to experience all of the negative comments that came with her accidental fame.
She says, "After this picture was posted, and I read all these comments, I lost my confidence. I didn't like going out in public without makeup or without my hair done, but I realized that that isn't the person I am, and people's opinions don't matter to me, and they shouldn't matter to anyone. Everyone should feel beautiful in their natural skin, and it doesn't matter what's on the outside of your face. The only thing that matters is who you really are."
Preach, girl! We couldn't agree more. Under her YouTube video, VanPevenage even proudly posted a sweet shout out to her makeup artist pal who created the viral transformation.
She says she stumbled upon her meme on Instagram, but it was also making the rounds on Facebook and Twitter as well. VanPevenage notes before her image became popular, she was never one to be afraid of going out in public with her natural hair and skin. It wasn't until she noticed the meme, and its nasty comments that she began to feel insecure.
If Ashley were our friend, we'd tell her she looks gorgeous with or without makeup. Her ability to stay positive and keep a healthy perspective through this situation is something we totally admire. Get it!
