Keira Knightley is suffering a bad stroke of luck on Broadway.

After being heckled by a crazed fan on opening night, the newest leading star of Helen Edmundson's Thérèse Raquin had to bow out of a preview performance in the titular role before the curtains even rose Wednesday evening.

The cause? A "minor injury," according to People. Roundabout Theatre Company, who is responsible for the Broadway production, said Knightley's injury kept her out of the theater and even caused the evening's performance to be canceled altogether.

The silver lining to this unfortunate ordeal is that Roundabout expects the Oscar nominee to be return for Thursday night's show.

Earlier Wednesday, the 30-year-old Everest actress was spotted makeup-free walking around in New York City's Tribeca neighborhood, eating a piece of bread, and wearing an oversized leather jacket and relaxed pair of rolled-up jeans.

Knightley's experience inside Studio 64 got off to a rocky start on Oct. 1 when an unruly and obsessed fan disrupted the show by proposing marriage just a few minutes after she appeared on stage.

The unidentified man beckoned to the famous actress from the balcony level of the theater, screaming nonsensical phrases and disrupting the entire evening.

"As soon as the play started, there was a guy who started yelling, 'This was all looney tunes!' I turned and noticed that there was a guy hanging off the mezzanine yelling stuff to the stage. 'Keira, none of this is real! This is all an act! Christ was born of a virgin!'" audience member Kacey Bange told E! News. "He kept yelling before ending with a perfunctory, 'Will you marry me?'"

While being escorted out of the theater, the man also tossed a bouquet of flowers on stage, which inevitably lead to a brief intermission.

While officials are optimistic that Knightley will make a full recovery before tonight's performance, we are crossing our fingers that the British native's debut in American theater is not officially jinxed for good.

Thérèse Raquin officially opens on Oct. 29 on Broadway at Studio 54.
