Nick Gordon is taking every action necessary to avoid going to court for the death of his late love, Bobbi Kristina Brown.

The former boyfriend of Whitney Houston's  daughter, who died in July while in a coma in hospice care, is taking every action to delay his impending $40 million lawsuit. On June 26, Bobbi Kristina's estate filed a lawsuit accusing Gordon of domestic abuse and stealing at least $11,000 from his girlfriend's bank accounts. The lawsuit was later amended with new claims that Gordon fought with Brown while they were living together and accused her of infidelity before giving her a "toxic cocktail rendering her unconscious," according to the copy obtained by E! News.

The final accusation: Gordon "put her face down in a tub of cold water causing her to suffer brain damage."

According to People, Gordon's attorney filed a motion asking the court to stop the suit until the criminal investigation is over and proceedings are finished. The motion claims that because of the high profiles of Brown and her famous parents, Houston and Bobby Brown, the 24-year-old has become the victim of negative media attention that would make him "unfairly, legally and financially prejudiced should he be subject to parallel criminal and civil proceedings."

While Gordon maintains his innocence among all the lawsuit's accusations against him—which now include that he is "a murderer, a habitual batterer of women, a seducer of young white females, a thief and/or con-man fueled by monetary gain, and a chemist capable of making a toxic cocktail"—the main reason he is trying to avoid the civil lawsuit is because any statements he makes to defend himself may incriminate him in the ongoing criminal investigation into Brown's death.

According to the Fulton County District Attorney's office, "the case remains open and under investigation," which means potentially supportive evidence to Gordon's case may still be unknown.

Simultaneously, the grand jury ruling over Brown's death has reportedly convened, meaning potential charges may be brought against Gordon soon.
