Backstage before shooting an episode of Live! With Kelly and Michael, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Kelly Ripa spared a few minutes for some picture-perfect selfies with court pro Shaquille O'Neal. While the funny ladies are usually down for a practical joke, they didn't realize they would soon become the punchline.
"It was a party this am on @kellyandmichael with @kellyripa @michaelstrahan @shaq so many of my favorite people in one place," the 38-year-old mother of two wrote on her Instagram account after posting a collage of photos of the foursome posing together. Hmmm, something looks curious.
At a cursory glance, it's clear just how little the two women are in comparison to the towering 7'1" O'Neal when Gellar posted the results of their photoshoot.
"@shaq I think I might be getting taller???? #wishfulthinking," she captioned the photo of herself barefoot standing next to the towering athlete. Definitely wishful thinking there, Sarah Michelle.
While taping, Gellar shared a story about the makeup artist she used to share with the retired athlete. The makeup artist would carry around her own platform to stand on while doing the basketball star's makeup.
"I'd be like jumping on my toes," Gellar joked. "He's a very tall man." Um, that's an understatement.
While they were reminiscing, Gellar recounted their first meeting while she was working out at the same gym that O'Neal frequented.
"The very first time I saw him at the gym and he just sorta went, 'Hey Buffy,' and I was like, 'He knows my name!" the Star Wars Rebels star remembered. Of course, Buffy wasn't actually her name, but the name of her character on the acclaimed television series, Buffy, the Vampire Slayer.
No matter how tall O'Neal may be, we have no doubt Buffy could still kick his butt if need be.
