Having a family has changed Kanye West

While the 38-year-old rapper will always be known for his outspoken ways, the record producer has seemingly softened after the birth of his daughter, North West, and his subsequent marriage to wife Kim Kardashian

In a new live interview as part of SHOW studio's "In Camera" series, West, who was named one of Time's most influential people back in April, opens up about his hopes for his future son (Kardashian, 34, is currently pregnant with the couple's second child) as well as his adorable daughter, who is now two years old.

"Having a family, period, has made me completely rethink the way I rap," the 21-time Grammy Award winner shared. "You know, people extend their brand for a long time. There's true moments of genius, then there are moments of looking through the archives and placing s--t together. So many people rate Dark Fantasy as my best album, but Yeezus and 808s are so much stronger. Dark Fantasy is me almost like, an apology record. 'Power' was the least progressive song that I've ever had as a first single.... least challenging."

He added with a giant grin, "I just love my family."

Asked if he's concerned about the constant media attention surrounding his every move, West admitted he worries, but said his problems pale in comparison to the rest of the population's.

"Do I worry about being in the public eye and raising kids? Yeah, any situation you're in you're going to worry about raising kids but it's champagne problems," he admitted of his A-list lifestyle. "There's people who can't feed their kids. That's something to more to worry about. So I'm not going to sit here and complain about the so-called problems I have. These aren't real issues. There's people at war...That celeb s--t, it's not real s--t... You know what, I'm alive. I'm breathing... I have no problems."

West now seems to approach each day with a deep sense of gratitude, presumably because he now finds his inspiration at home with Kim and North.

"Three years ago, after this interview, I would've been on the train back to Paris to see the last of the shows to get that inspiration," the musician, who welcomed daughter North in June 2013, revealed. "Now, I'm on the first flight home to see my greatest inspiration, that's my daughter."

West's wife of one-year is due to give birth to the couple's second child on Christmas Day, and it's obvious the rapper is overjoyed for the impending arrival of his son.

"I don't have a name for him," he responded to a moniker question asked by friend Anna Wintour (who previously gave her stamp of approval for the name North). "But what I hope for him is that he can feel purpose."

He continued, delving deeper into his hopes and dreams for his future son.

"The other night I was driving in Paris, and I saw these three high school kids running top speed," he recalled. "I didn't know if they were chasing a guy or what, and there was a bus on the side of the street that was about to pull off, and they were beating on the side of the bus. And I looked at the time and it was like, 1 a.m., so that might be the last bus of the night, and I was just like, really saddened. I was like, 'How can I make my son feel that?'"

West himself understands what it means to struggle. "Because once you've felt that, then none of these f--king questions matter. When you've missed that last bus before, when you have the opportunity to get on the bus? You don't give a f--k about any of this," he admitted.

Kim Kardashian's better half also addressed why he feels the need to define his public persona, despite past criticism for labeling himself as a god.

"Because otherwise I'm called celebrity, I'm called n---er, I'm called rapper," he said when asked why he feels the need to call himself a genius. "And when they use the words celebrity, n---er or rapper, it's not in a positive way. And all those words can be used in a positive way…but that's not the way it's used. So I have to define who I am. All of my aspirations currently are only things that 60 year old white people do so I have to redefine and let people know exactly who I am."

And these days, apparently, that's a family man.
