Chasing Life fans, hopefully your tissue stash is still stocked after Monday night's tearjerker of a season two finale—because we have some pretty bad news for you. That hourlong sobfest, which saw April and her pals head to Italy for a once-in-a-lifetime vacation? That's the last we'll see of the show.

ABC Family has canceled the series after two seasons, E! News has confirmed.

In the season two finale, young widow April (Italia Ricci) took BFF Beth (Aisha Dee) and former/possibly current love Dominic (Richard Brancatisano) on the honeymoon to Italy she never got with her husband, the beloved Leo (Scott Michael Foster). While taking in the sights in Rome—a particularly gorgeous sunset, in fact, she revealed that she was no longer eligible for any clinical trials to treat her cancer, and had decided against having a bone marrow transplant. She didn't want her quality of life to suffer.

It was a gorgeous, emotional moment, though her friends were dismayed at the decision. Beth worried that her bestie was giving up, but April didn't see it that way. "It's not giving up because I've already won. I could die happy here," she said.

Following the season one finale, star Ricci told E! News that she was proud of how April was going to take control of her life in the second season after her cancer returned. "I'm excited for fans to see April take control of her diagnosis this time around," she said. "The last time, she just sort of let everything happen and waited to see what was going to happen next. This time she's proactive about everything."
