And the cycle never seems to end. After one duo breaks up, we get behind another budding romance in hopes they can prove that love still exists. But much to our disappointment, true love in Hollywood is often few and far between.
2015 wasn't a great year for our dear friend cupid, with country darlings Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert closing the book on their four years of marriage. And just before their 10-year anniversary, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner waved a solemn goodbye to each other. Not to mention Gavin Rossdale and Gwen Stefani, who after 20 years of what seemed like an ironclad relationship filed for divorce in August.
Though Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston have since gone on to find love in other places, the sting of their five-year relationship is still painful. The same goes for early the 2000s match made in pop star heaven Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears, but hey at least we got "Cry Me a River" out of it.
