Well, that was awkward.

Come on, we were all thinking that when Annalise (Viola Davis) went to a race with the Keating Five in How to Get Away With Murder's season two premiere...and got very close to Wes (Alfred Enoch) on the dance floor. And guess what? The other members of the law group thought it was "awkward" too!

"There's no music when we're shooting it, so it's the most awkward thing," Karla Souza tells E! News' Will Marfuggi. "And then you see Annalise touching Wes' chest and it's just really uncomfortable. I just tried to not look at it!"

And Jack Falahee is just as baffled by Annalise and Wes' dynamic, calling it both "maternal" and "intimate." Yup. Not weird at all. To hear more from the HTGAWM cast on one of TV's weirdest and most interesting relationships, including what their own family members call them to say about it, press play on the video above!

So, what do we actually know about their relationship? Well, a lot of people think he didn't deserve to even make it into Wallace University, let alone in Annalise's competitive and selective special program. Annalise has been very protective of Wes throughout the series thus far, helping him cover up her husband Sam's (Tom Verica) murder and trying her best to keep him out of trouble, leading some viewers to theorize that they are related. However, Asher (Matt McGorry) threw out the Annalise-is-Wes'-mother theory in the pilot, only to have Mikaela (Aja Naomi King) quickly scoff, "Because all black people are related?" So not a denial, right, but it seemed very intentional on the writers' part to acknowledge the theory from the jump.

Our best theory? Even though the very touchy-feely scenes between the two give us pause, we're thinking Wes could be Annalise's nephew, as we know she has siblings out there. Last season, we learned Wes' mother committed suicide when he was 13 years old, so perhaps his mother was Annalise's sister. Hey, it's the best we've got! We never said we were lawyers.

What do you think the connection is between Annalise and Wes? Sound off in the comments below!
