Jim Carrey's on-again-off-again girlfriend, Cathriona White, was found dead in her Los Angeles home from an apparent suicide, E! News reported this morning.

The actor released a statement saying he was "shocked and deeply saddened" by the news, adding that White, 28, was "a truly kind and delicate Irish flower, too sensitive for this soil, to whom loving and being loved was all that sparkled."

In addition to Carrey's sweet description of his late girlfriend, here are seven more things to know about Cathriona:

She was born and raised in Ireland: She grew up in Tipperary and was clearly proud of her heritage as both her Instagram and Twitter accounts were under the handles "LittleIrishCat."

She moved to California to be a makeup artist: She worked on several high-profile shoots, including one with David Hasselhoff as well as Divergent star Lyndie Greenwood. She styled Greenwood for an Elle feature shoot and for the Divergent film premiere, as seen in several images posted on her Instagram page.

She began dating Carrey in 2012: Then two met in March 2012 and started dating soon after that, according to the Daily Mail. However, they split less than a year later. In March 2013, he told the Irish Independent, "I did go out with an Irish girl. We're not seeing each other anymore. But she is lovely."

Carrey and White started dating again this year: In May 2015, the couple rekindled their romance, and were spotted holding hands in NYC. Carrey even took to Twitter last week to share a photo she took of him at Grand Central Station.  However, White's suicide note reportedly referenced that she and Carrey broke up recently.

She loved animals and nature: White's Instagram account is full of photos of her adventures in the great outdoors, animals and beautiful scenery. She also had a dog named Ella.

She was very attached to her family: The brunette beauty would share pictures of her seven nieces and nephews, always saying how much she missed them.

She would inspire her followers: Be it through inspirational quotes or words of advice, she often shared encouraging thoughts.

Our thoughts are with Carrey and Cathriona's friends and family during this difficult time.
