ABCIt's time to go back to Storybrooke.
That's right—Once Upon a Time is finally returning for season five! Soon, Snow White, Prince Charming and the rest of the fairy tale folk will be back on your TV, picking up right where they left off. E! News was lucky enough to attend a screening of the premiere, titled "The Dark Swan," and trust us when we say: It does not disappoint. While you patiently wait for Sunday night, let us fill you in on what you can expect!
Answers On Emma's Whereabouts
At the end of last season, Emma (Jennifer Morrison) sacrificed herself to the darkness and disappeared within it, location unknown. Don't expect a long, drawn-out mystery over where she was taken. We find out pretty quickly as we begin to see the Savior struggle with becoming the new Dark One. And what a struggle it is. Morrison is doing some of her series-best work in the premiere as the darkness begins to take its hold.
OUAT's First Pixar Character
The show's pulled from the Disney animated library for four seasons straight, but season five marks the first appearance of a character from the Pixar canon with the introduction of Brave heroine Merida. Actress Amy Manson is spot-on in her portrayal of the Scottish warrior princess. Her run-in with Emma will leave you surprised—and that's all we're allowed to say about that.
Belle's Iconic Moment
Look forward a very familiar facet of Disney's animated Beauty and the Beast to make its way into Belle's (Emilie de Ravin) life in Storybrooke. We can't tell you what it is because what's the fun in that? But, trust us, it's a cool bit of imagery.
A Crop of Camelot Characters
Merida's not the only new face in the premiere. Get ready to meet King Arthur (Liam Garrigan) and Percival (Andrew Jenkins), as well as say hello once again to our old pal Lancelot (Sinqua Walls). Not only that, but prepare yourself for the first look at Camelot—just don't expect to spend too much time there. Not yet, at least.
An Ending That'll Take Your Breath Away
The last few minutes set the season up in such a way that you'll be desperately wishing you had more episodes at your disposal immediately after the premiere. Seriously. The ending promises a season built around a really intriguing mystery that wisely centers itself on our core, beloved characters. Is episode two here yet?
