Adele's official return to music has arrived—just don't expect to hear her voice.
While the ten time Grammy Award winner prepares for the debut of her third studio album, she spared some time to pen a brand new hit single with Sia and lyricist Tobias Jesso Jr. called "Alive!" The song will be featured on the wigged star's next album, This Is Acting, while an official music video is still in the works.
After one full play of the track, we're hooked. The song undeniably sounds like it was birthed right from Sia's fingertips. The lyrics paint the tale of a self-proclaimed survivor who has overcome deep mysterious strife. Lines like "I had made every single mistake that you could ever possibly make. I took and I took and I took what you gave, but you never noticed that I was in pain" are reminiscent of her past chart-toppers like "Elastic Heart" and "Chandelier."
It doesn't hurt that the queen of heartbreak herself, Adele, joined the surprise team—it was bound to be golden from the beginning.
After a four-year hiatus, new mom Adele is allegedly planning to release her desperately-awaited new album this November, according to Billboard. Rumor has it the album will feature tracks written by a series of songwriters, including Ryan Tedder, Danger Mouse, Jesso Jr., and Max Martin.
Still, we can't help but feel a little bitter over the fact that Adele has teased fans about the next installment of her music for awhile, even hinting at a possible album title—25—in a Twitter post in 2014.
"Bye bye 25. See you later in the year x," she captioned a photo. 2015 arrived and is almost over and still no album—not that we're bitter or anything.
While Adele's camp has remained tight-lipped about the entire project, Ed Sheeran had no qualms about adding to the hype.
"I haven't heard [the album], but everyone I know who've worked on it is just like, ‘Dude… that record!' Apparently, it's really good," Sheeran told UK's Capital FM.
All we know is, if the album doesn't come out soon, we'll be this close to setting fire to the rain.
