Is Ash of Ash vs Evil Dead the Laziest Hero Ever? Bruce Campbell, Lucy Lawless & More Preview New Horror Comedy

Prepare yourselves for something a little bit different this Halloween.

Of course, Ash v. Evil Dead won't be all that different for fans of the Evil Dead movie franchise, but the show is unlike anything else on TV.

Seriously, where else can you find a horror sitcom starring an aging stockboy fighting monsters with his chainsaw hand and the help of three badass women? The answer to that question is nowhere. This is a show in a class all its own.

The series finds Bruce Campbell reprising his role as unlikely hero Ash Williams, the titular aging stockboy with the chainsaw hand, who finds himself having to return to the world he thought he had left behind long ago when he ends up summoning the evil dead.

In the exclusive behind-the-scenes clip above, you can not only discover why Ash might be the worst hero ever (He's a selfish lazy blowhard, apparently), but you can also get just a little taste of what Ash is up against, and who's helping him out along the way, including his coworkers Pablo (Ray Santiago) and Kelly (Dana Delorenzo), police officer Amanda Fisher (Jill Marie Jones) and, of course, the incomparable Lucy Lawless as the mysterious Ruby.

There isn't much to know about Ruby yet, other than the fact that she's a) played by Lucy Lawless, and b) is our "new best friend," which are two things that are just fine with us.

She's also a little bit obsessed with Ash Williams for reasons we'll soon find out.

One of the things that's already surprising (and exciting) us about this show is the number of ass-kicking ladies who are taking on evil right there next to Ash, and even seem a little better-suited to the job than he does so far. We can't say we were expecting to see a cast where the number of women outweighs the number of men, but we are so into it.

Click play on the video above to hear more from the entire cast, plus executive producer Sam Raimi and showrunner Craig DiGregorio, on exactly what Ash and his new friends are up to as the evil dead comes alive once again.

Ash vs Evil Dead debuts Saturday, Oct. 31 on Starz.
