Ariel Winter Going to College, Applying to 15 Schools!

Modern Family star doesn't want to limit her choices

Ariel Winter isn't taking any chances of not being able to go to college.

The Modern Family star is planning to apply to 15 schools in November. Yes, 15!

"I'm 99 percent sure I'm going to go in California, but I wanted to apply anyway," Winter, 17, told me on the red carpet at the Emmys. "I still want to do my work, because I love my work, and be close to my family and the family I care about."

In May, Winter told me she's most interested in business and law. "I would love to continue acting but it's definitely important, I think, to go and do something else as well," she said. "You never know if something's not going to work out, if one day acting is like, 'No, we don't like you anymore!' You gotta have something else you can do. I've always been interested in law so I think it'll definitely be something that I'll love to do and also go to school for."

At the Emmys, Winter also talked about going public earlier this year about her breast reduction surgery.

"It's pretty amazing how many tweets and Instagrams I've gotten from girls that are saying, 'I've wanted to do the same thing. I struggle with the same issue and you have made it OK for me to do that,'" Winter said. "That really touches me. We're all human and we all get insecure and we all have issues."

"I think it's really important for me to use my platform to do something good and help people if I can."
