Tonight, fans of the Big Bang Theory will finally see Penny (Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting) and Leonard (Johnny Galecki) tie the knot, but is it ever awkward for the onscreen couple and real-life exes?!
The 29-year-old beauty was asked that very question during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live on Sunday, where she admitted she dodged a bullet with what could have been a "horrible" situation.
"Well, we dated like 5 years ago," she said of Galecki, who even attended his co-star's wedding on New Year's Eve 2013. "So I think we've both moved on. And Johnny's actually one of my best friends. It's a situation that ended well. I understand sometimes it doesn't."
She continued, insisting there's no bad blood between her current husband and her former beau.
"And he's one of my dearest friends and Ryan loves him," she added of the 40-year-old actor. "I got lucky. That could've been horrible."
Cuoco-Sweeting and Galecki dated for two years, although few knew about their relationship until after they split.
"It took a minute, a bit of awkwardness," the blond beauty told Cosmopolitan in April 2014 of working with her ex. "By the grace of God, we became best buddies and moved on in such an elegant way. [He's] one of my closest friends. He was in the front row at my wedding, with a huge smile on his face."
In fact, Galecki may have proved to be the best ex-boyfriend ever, stepping up to the plate after Cuoco-Sweeting forgot to thank her husband at the 2015 People's Choice Awards.
"Hey, wow, thank you so much. Hey, just real quick, I'd like to take a brief moment, because Kaley forgot during her speech to thank her husband, Ryan..." he said on stage after The Big Bang Theory was named Favorite Network TV Comedy at the 2015 People's Choice Awards.
"OK, thank you," Kaley interjected, giving him a mock thumbs-up.
"You are my heart, and I can't imagine what I'd be without you," Galecki finished, putting a few words in his co-star's mouth. "I appreciate that, thanks," Kaley added, patting her TV boyfriend on the shoulder.
Talk about friendly exes!
