The 2015 Emmys gave us much sartorial fodder to, well, fawn over, and of course a slew of new (and returning) trends to try out: From red carpet staples (metallic and white, anyone?) to looks just gaining traction (chain straps are the new black, y'all), these styles are more than worth a second glance. Read on for the best red carpet trends below!
Metallic Hardware
These hardware-effect dresses are not for the faint of heart: We spotted silvery and gold hues on Christina Hendricks, Kerry Washington (who crushed the carpet in Marc Jacobs), Cat Deeley, Sofía Vergara and Liz Hernandez.
Cold Shoulders
Off-the-shoulder was not only big on the New York Fashion Week catwalk, the decolletage-baring look ruled the Emmys, too.
Punchy Hot Pink
Fluorescent pink dresses were just the shock of color needed to brighten our nights, with Elisabeth Moss, Samira Wiley, Jessica Paré and Christine Baranski all sporting punchy versions of the hue.
Sweetheart Necklines
January Jones stunned in an emerald green jumpsuit, but it was her sweetheart neckline that kept our attention. We also spotted the style on Maggie Gyllenhaal, Gina Rodriguez and Stephanie Bauer.
Off the Chain
OK—this wasn't the most ubiquitous look on the carpet tonight, but we can guarantee you'll be seeing more of it next red carpet season. Both Taraji P. Henson and Claire Danes donned dresses featuring chain-link straps, a touch as fierce as it is sexy.
Kaleidoscopic Stripes
Graphic, colorful stripes stunned (quite literally) on the Emmys carpet, with Ellie Kemper, Claire Danes, Zoe Kazan and Jaimie Alexander all sporting chic versions of the look.
Sexy Plunge
Plunging necklines aren't a new trend story on the red carpet by any means, but the cut-to-there look is as eye-catching as ever.
Tuxedo Effect
Menswear as women's wear continued to be a red carpet motif, and a good one at that.
Post-Labor Day Whites
Fashion rules are meant to be broken, especially the yearly "no white after Labor Day" decree. We're glad these ladies didn't take note.
