Don't expect Emily Blunt to ever appear on Fox & Friends.

The British movie star, who became a naturalized U.S. citizen in August, joked about what it means to be an American while promoting her upcoming movie, Sicario, on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and The Ellen DeGeneres ShowFox & Friends co-hosts Steve Doocy, Brian Kilmeade and Anna Kooiman didn't understand Blunt's sense of humor and chose to criticize the actress on Tuesday's show.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter at the Toronto International Film Festival, the Golden Globe-winning actress recalled, "I became an American citizen recently and that night we decided to watch the Republican debate, and I thought this was a terrible mistake. What have I done?" An offended Kooiman offered this response on the conservative morning show: "You know what? Why don't you leave Hollywood, Calif., and let some American women take on the roles that you're getting because the Americans are watching your movies and lining your pockets. She's been in movies like The Devil Wears Prada and The Edge of Tomorrow."

Kilmeade said that he agreed with Kooiman and referred to Blunt's appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last week, in which she said that being a U.S. citizen was "so strange and slightly disarming" and added, "I'm not sure I'm entirely thrilled about it. People ask me about the whole day. They were like, 'Oh, it must have been so emotional.' I was like, 'It wasn't! It was sad!' I like being British." At the ceremony, Blunt said she also had to renounce Queen Elizabeth II. "The thing that's weird is I do get to keep both my British citizenship and this, but you have to renounce her. So, it's kind of typically American—not to be rude—but I had to renounce her in the room but I don't actually, technically renounce her," the actress told host Jimmy Kimmel. "They're like, 'Just say it. You don't have to mean it, but just say it.'"

"Why is that typical American?" Kilmeade asked.

Kilmeade then referred to Blunt's ex-boyfriend and husband, telling the co-hosts, "By the way, she lived with Michael Bublé in Vancouver and then married John Krasinski, who was very good in The Office."

Doocy took it a step further and referenced the backlash the Dixie Chicks endured after criticizing President George W. Bush in 2003, arguing, "You know what Emily Blunt just did? She just Dixie Chicked herself. She has alienated half the country, and now will think twice about going to one of her movies."

"I actually didn't know she was, and I've seen a lot of movies," Kilmeade said.

"Congratulations," he said. "You're an American citizen and you're very unhappy."

Blunt has yet to respond—but odds are, she's laughing this one off.
