Jason LaVeris/FilmMagicPregnant Shiri Appleby is feeling good as she prepares to enter her third trimester.
"Great! I've been having a really easy pregnancy," the 36-year-old star, who was flaunting her baby bump in a black summer dress, told E! News when asked how she's feeling at Amazon Video's Tumble Leaf Family Fun Day hosted by Au Fudge on Sunday in Los Angeles.
"I was able to cover it," Appleby, who announced her pregnancy on Instagram at the end of August, added. "You kind of just want to make sure you're 'threw the woods' as they say."
Shiri and fiancé Jon Shook are already parents to 2-year-old daughter Natalie, who, according to the proud mama, is very excited to be a big sister. The happy couple does not know the sex of baby no. 2, but Appleby says she's quickly approaching her due date.
"We're due at the end of the year, but we don't know what we're having," she shared. "Our daughter, Natalie, is really excited. We've been reading a lot of the books to try to explain what's going on and I'm kind of just hitting that nesting phase where I'm like 'OK, we need to make room, let's clean out the drawers, the playroom' It's just really exciting. It's a really exciting time for us."
The soon-to-be mother-of-two, whose fiancé and daughter were both present at the event, also revealed how this pregnancy is different from her last.
"I think it's just easier in the sense that it doesn't feel as unknown, as foreign," she said. "You kind of know what you're getting into. Of course, the other question is 'How do you have two and juggle it and manage it?' but millions of people have done it before us so I feel like we'll figure it out. But I think it's just a lot more excitement as opposed to nerves."
Shook and Appleby became engaged shortly before announcing her first pregnancy. The restaurateur and chef popped the question while the couple was on vacation in Ventotene, Italy, in July 2012.
"Now we're kind of excited…when we get married our family will be there. Our kids will be a part of it. We have made a list, we're going to get married soon," she insisted after laughing off how her pregnancies have put the wedding on hold. "I'm going to go back to work and do the second season of unREAL in March, the baby will be here at the end of the year. And sometime shortly after it wraps, we can wrap up that."
As for their wedding plans?
"We've really just been waiting to buy a new house. We want to do it in the house. Super family oriented, we want to make it about the kids," she said with a smile before adding that her hubby-to-be "will definitely not be doing the cooking, but I don't think there will be a shortage of food."
