Rule number one this season: Don't be afraid to mix textures and patterns. This fall, take a cue from the NYFW runways and mix up your wardrobe with prints. Think: the gypsy patterns seen at the Rachel Zoe show or the exotic textiles at Edun. This season's global attractions trend is all about people, prints, patterns and places.

Similarly, blogger Marianna Hewitt loves LA style for its versatility and worldly inspiration. For fall she adores this cream-colored Vince Camuto vest (available at Macy's), which looks as if it came from faraway lands. A textured statement piece like this is an instant wardrobe upgrade because it feels one of a kind.

For Marianna's tips on styling the global attractions trend for fall, check out how she incorporates it into her wardrobe for a date night, dressed down as a part of her weekend uniform and buttoned-up for a business meeting.

"For a business meeting, it's important to stay on-trend but still maintain a professional look by sticking with a neutral color scheme," said Marianna. "Button-up blouses are a staple in my closet, so for a meeting I tend to lean toward a classic black blouse with a high neckline and pair it with matching black leather leggings. This shaggy fall vest breaks up the otherwise monochrome look with some much needed texture."

"For date night, I always want something that's a little more dressed up, but also something that's not too uncomfortable," she noted. "Since the vest has an edgy, boho feel, this flowy skirt makes the overall look a little more feminine and romantic. By adding a knee-high heeled boot, the entire look feels very flirty and ‘70s to me, which is very in-fashion this season."

"For my weekend uniform, I like to keep my look a little more playful with something that works for brunch out with friends," Marianna shared. "I love the idea of layering this bulky vest on top of a lightweight white dress with a flouncy hem for a fresh take. To keep the look from coming across as too delicate, hats are one of my favorite accessories for fall and are also perfect for bad hair days."
