Give it up for day one, y'all!

It's New York Fashion Week (as if you didn't already know), which means our eyes are glued to the catwalk for first sight of every major trend, best look and must-have accessory at this season's biggest presentations. We'll sift through runway looks all week to curate a NYFW novice-friendly round-up of the shows you need to know about—not to mention staying on the lookout for future red carpet gowns (2015 Emmys, anyone?) and recurrent style motifs from designers who set the tone for our spring shopping lists.

That doesn't mean that newcomers can't wow us, of course: Lauren Conrad put forth her very first LC Lauren Conrad runway collection (also marking her NYFW debut) on Sept. 9, showcasing a line rife with fairytale details (we're talking tulle skirts, airy fringe and all-over sequins).

Tadashi Shoji gave us a peek into his office and his design process, which came to fruition beautifully on his spring-summer 2016 runway. Japanese-inspired florals, rich violet gowns and structured white separates rang clean and covetable at the show.

Marissa Webb offered a runway continuation of fall's biggest trends, showcasing plaid dresses and pantsuits, military green separates and punchy coral and lilac hues.

Desigual, meanwhile, funked it up on the catwalk with psychedelic florals, sheer and sexy rompers and plenty of badass denim to go around.

There's more than that came from! Click through our gallery for all of today's bests (and come back tomorrow for the sartorial tastes of day two).
