Caitlyn Jenner raised some eyebrows recently when she revealed she was not always in favor of same-sex marriage and Lance Bass, who came out publicly as gay nine years ago, recently weighed in on her comments.

The 65-year-old Olympian made her comments on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, hosted by the woman who in the '90s played the first leading TV character to come out as gay. Jenner began transitioning from a man into a woman months ago and had in June revealed her female name and look. She documents her new life as a woman on the E! docu-series I Am Cait.

"What I don't get is, she's sitting there in Givenchy, full makeup saying, 'I'm a traditionalist,'" Bass, 36, said on The Meredith Vieira Show on Wednesday. "I'm like 'What?!'"

"But I do have to give her some room, too, because even when I came out, I still caught myself saying, 'Oh, she's so hot,'" Bass added. "Like doing that thing you trained yourself to do for so many years. So I think we should give her a little room to grow."

Jenner, whose appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show marked her first talk series appearance, has not responded to his remarks.

The Olympian, who has identified as a conservative Republican, had said she was a "traditionalist" but that she has "really changed" her thinking about gay marriage, saying, "I don't ever want to stand in front of anybody's happiness. That's not my job, okay? If that word, 'marriage', is really, really that important to you, I can go with it."

DeGeneres, 57, has been married to Portia De Rossi, 42, since 2008. After the interview, she reflected on Caitlyn's comments.

"She still has a judgment about gay marriage," she said on The Howard Stern Show on Sirius XM. "I said, 'you're wanting people to understand and accept you...and you still have a judgment about gay people and marriage...'"

Bass came out publicly as gay in July 2006. The 'N Sync singer and Sirius XM DJ wed Michael Turchin last December. Their wedding was taped and aired on E!, marking the first time a same-sex couple had their nuptials televised in the United States.

In her interview, Jenner talked about her love life, saying she would like to find a new life partner, without saying whether she'd prefer a man or a woman.
