Chad Kroeger Spotted Without His Ring, Packing Up Car After Split From Avril Lavigne—See the Pics and Watch Video!

Chad Kroeger keeps moving forward since he and Avril Lavigne announced they're separating after only two years of marriage.

The Nickelback frontman, 40, was spotted in a T-shirt and jeans loading some personal items into the back of a car, which was driven by an unknown woman, only hours after he and the "Complicated" singer, 30, broke the news. Among the items he packed up were two guitars and some boxes.

When Kroeger was spotted in the past without his wedding ring amid split rumors, he would always shoot them down.

"You know what? They come off," he told ET Canada in November of last year, referring to rings. He then removed his band and then slipped it back on twice. "And they go back on and then come off and then go back on. What does that mean?"

This time, however, his missing ring only further confirms the estranged couple's split. An insider told E! News exclusively that the couple, while separating, are keeping their heads held high.

"Honestly, she's doing OK," the source told us shortly after the news broke Wednesday. "This has been in the works for awhile."

What began as a picture-perfect marriage slowly transformed into a complicated one, as Lavigne was diagnosed with Lyme disease, which prevented her from performing for most of the past year. Thankfully her health has since taken a turn in a positive direction.

"Avril is still sick, so she's not working much—just here and there," our source said. "It's been a tough year. But these days, she's living in L.A. and has a very close, supportive group of friends. She's focused on her recovery but she knows it's going to take time."

Ultimately, the couple began to have very different opinions on children, marriage and even friends. But our source insisted that these two would remain friendly, even if they are exes.

"Chad is being supportive," the insider added. "At the end of the day, they just didn't see eye to eye on a lot of things." Moreover, "their friends and their social circles never really mixed.

"They originally got together to make an album and that's where the spark between them originated. But it just slowly died out."
