Miley Cyrus has an unlikely ally in Wendy Williams.

Three days after the singer was caught off guard by Nicki Minaj at the MTV Video Music Awards, the daytime talk show host appeared on HuffPost Live and said she considered the outburst to be in poor taste. "I didn't watch the VMAs, because again, I was on tour and I was busy sleeping and moisturizing. But I did see the clip and I was very disappointed in Nicki. And I don't have an opinion on either one of the girls—bad, good or indifferent. You know, they're both talented in their own way," Williams said of the two musicians. "I just feel that Nicki is like twice Miley Cyrus' age and it would have been nice if Nicki would have just taken her award, rolled her eyes and looked at the camera—and then kept it moving."

"I don't know, I just...Who fights with kids?" Williams asked.

In an interview for The New York Times, Cyrus said she hasn't followed the recent Twitter drama between Minaj and Taylor Swift because of the rapper's angry approach. "If you do things with an open heart and you come at things with love, you would be heard and I would respect your statement. But I don't respect your statement because of the anger that came with it. And it's not anger like, 'Guys, I'm frustrated about some things that are a bigger issue.' You made it about you. Not to sound like a bitch, but that's like, 'Eh, I didn't get my VMA.' If you want to make it about race, there's a way you could do that. But don't make it just about yourself. Say: 'This is the reason why I think it's important to be nominated. There's girls everywhere with this body type,'" the 22-year-old singer explained. "What I read sounded very Nicki Minaj, which, if you know Nicki Minaj is not too kind. It's not very polite. I think there's a way you speak to people with openness and love."

"You don't have to start this pop star against pop star war," she added.

When Minaj was awarded Best Hip-Hop Video for "Anaconda" Sunday, she also called out the host, saying, "Back to this bitch who had a lot to say about me the other day in the press. Miley, what's good?" Cyrus looked shocked but tried to regain her composure when the main camera panned to her. "We all do interviews," she explained. "We all know how they manipulate s--t. Congratuf--kinglations, Nicki."

MTV turned off Minaj's microphone so Cyrus could resume hosting. Still, the surprise attack rattled her. "Miley was pissed," a source told E! News. "She stormed backstage cursing and yelling about it as she headed toward her dressing room."

Last month, Cyrus revealed she had problems with Swift's "Bad Blood" music video, which ironically won Video of the Year at the VMAs. "I don't get the violence revenge thing," she told Marie Claire. "That's supposed to be a good example? And I'm a bad role model because I'm running around with my t-tties out? I'm not sure how t-tties are worse than guns. There is so much sexism, ageism, you name it. Kendrick Lamar sings about LSD and he's cool. I do it and I'm a druggie whore."

After that interview was published, Williams defended Cyrus as part of her weekly column in Life & Style's Aug. 31 issue. "Miley Cyrus made a good point when she said gun violence in Taylor Swift's 'Bad Blood' video sets a bad example. But I wish Miley knew better than to draw more attention to Taylor," Williams wrote. "If I were her, I'd stay quiet and let Taylor's childish decisions implode her own image."
