If you, like all of us here, have had dreams about Michelle Pfeiffer doing TV, well, YOUR DREAM IS ABOUT TO COME TRUE! Pfeiffer will star opposite Robert De Niro in Wizard of Lies, the new HBO movie about Bernie Madoff. Pfeiffer, who played De Niro's wife in The Family, will play Ruth Madoff to his Bernie Madoff in the HBO film from Barry Levinson.

The movie is described as a look behind the scenes at Madoff's huge Ponzi scheme—how it was perpetrated on the public, the destruction left in its wake and the toll it took on families everywhere, including Madoff's. It's based on Wizard of Lies by Diana Henriques with additional source material from Truth and Consequences by Laurie Sandell. Levinson will direct and executive produce alongside De Niro, Jane Rosenthal, Berry Welsh and co-executive producer Jason Sosnoff. The script comes from John Burnham Schwartz, Sam Baum and Sam Levinson.

Alessandro Nivola of Doll & Em will play Mark Madoff, son of Ruth and Bernie, who was found dead from apparent suicide in 2010.

Pfeiffer, who has been nominated for three Oscars, has kept a low profile lately. Her last credited role was the 2013 movie The Family. She has never been nominated for an Emmy before, so get ready TV Academy. This is her first TV role since an uncredited appearance in husband David E. Kelley's Picket Fences in 1995. 1995!!! Here is our hope, a hope we're sure you share: Pfeiffer will be so jazzed by her experience shooting Wizard of Lies she decides she's ready to do TV on a regular basis. Give her a comedy! Give her a drama! Give her anything she wants, it's Michelle Pfeiffer and TV wants her. No, TV needs her. And yes, we're speaking on behalf of TV and TV fans everywhere. Michelle Pfeiffer on a weekly basis is the dream. Thank you.
