Tears come only a few weeks after her split from Zayn Malik

Perrie Edwards couldn't hold back the tears any longer.

The Little Mix singer broke down onstage during an event with AOL Build at NBC while performing the band's new song, "The End." When it came time to sing the line, "no one can love you, the way I used to do," Edwards started to cry.

Edwards' public tears come only a few weeks after she and One Direction member-turned-solo artist Zayn Malik called off their engagement.

Little Mix members Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall ran over to the blonde beauty where they all gave her hugs, making sure to stop the tears in their tracks. Malik's ex also had the support of thousands of fans, who all shouted "We love you Perrie" upon seeing her sadness come to a head.

Once Edwards had calmed down, Nelson addressed the crowd and joked, "It's been a long day."

It has been a busy couple of weeks for the all-female pop group, who have been promoting their most recent single, "Black Magic." The British pop stars are also celebrating their four-year anniversary, which they honored by putting on a performance for the Today show Wednesday morning, hours before Edwards' breakdown.

"We feel like we've been together longer than that," Nelson told the NBC co-hosts. "It feels like it's been 20 years."

Although they're fresh off a win at the Teen Choice Awards and a knockout performance, Little Mix admitted that they still get nervous before major events! "It literally was terrifying," Nelson admitted. "It's such a huge thing for us, wasn't it? We've never performed at the Teen Choice Awards before, so it was our first time. It was amazing!"

Since Little Mix is doing such great things lately, perhaps Perrie will focus more on her band's feats than her ex. Even though they were said to have a split amicably, their subtle shading of each other probably hasn't made moving on any easier. But as she told James Corden, she considers herself blessed to have such amazing friends.

"Do you know what? I'm good. I'm having an absolute blast in America," the 22-year-old singer said of the girl group's U.S. promo tour. "Things are going so well. I just wake up every day and I thank my lucky stars I have these three girls."
