We thought we had done all the crying we could over Nina Dobrev's Vampire Diaries exit, but it turns out we were wrong!

Dobrev took the stage at the Teen Choice Awards on Sunday to accept the award for choice TV actress in a sci-fi or fantasy and took the opportunity to speak out about leaving the show—after rubbing it in our faces, just a little bit.

She started her speech with a pair of vampire fangs in her mouth and attempted to mumble her thank yous, before finally taking them out.

"That's right! I don't need these anymore," she said, smirking, like she knew she was breaking our hearts all over again.

"The last few months have been a big change for me," her real speech began. "Change. It's a scary word, or I used to think that, because it meant new beginnings. New beginnings with a future that was unknown."

Watch the beginning of her speech below!

"But change is necessary," Dobrev continued. "Necessary for you to grow up and learn and to better yourself, becauase everything in life comes to an end. As this chapter of my life comes to an end, I look back at it with a grateful heart, and I smile, because just like my character Elena, I started the show as a young girl, and together we grew up. We've grown up and over the last six years we've become women."

"These were six incredible years that I had the pleasure of sharing with all of you guys. We wouldn't be here without you. I wouldn't be here without you, and I wouldn't be here without Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson. They changed my life with this role—sorry, three, four roles. It's hard to keep track these days. So thank you guys, each and every single one of you."

Before she accepted her surfboard and lef the stage, Dobrev had one last message for fans.

"And remember, change is coming! So hold on and enjoy the ride. It's going to be fun."

For some reason, we just weren't expecting Dobrev to get all real and emotional on us tonight, even if it was her last opportunity to win a Teen Choice Award for playing Elena Gilbert, so we were totally unprepared to start feeling those feels all over again.

We will, however, be taking Dobrev's advice in our own way and hanging on, not only to see what she does next in her career, but also to the next season of The Vampire Diaries for dear life, because how could a show about the Salvatore brothers not be fun?

Chin up, guys. We'll get through this together.

The Vampire Diaries returns Thursday, October 8 to the CW.
