We know Sarah Michelle Gellar best as a vampire slayer, but these days she also kicks butt as a mom.
Husband Freddie Prinze Jr. and she "split everything pretty fairly," the actress and mother of two told E! News at an event for her new Crazy 8 kids' fashion line. "I mean, I think that that's how you have to raise children today, as you want them to be independent and want them to see in our society that there is no difference between men and women and go from there."
But although Freddie is a great dad, he may be a little out of touch. "He wants to know when we're buying our Trapper Keepers," Gellar recalled. "I was like, 'Sweetheart, you're old, we don't have Trapper Keepers anymore.' We're showing our age."
Talking about her Crazy 8 line, which is in stores Aug. 14, just in time for back-to-school shopping, Gellar said, "I think the fact that it's, first of all, so incredibly on trend because younger and younger kids are exposed through social media to what's fashionable and they really care about that.
"I care about my wallet," she added. "I like it to stay on the thicker rather than the thinner side. For me to be able to have clothing where almost everything is under $20, at the rate that they grow, is extremely appreciated—and on top of that, they take into consideration what the parents want. Yeah sure, crop tops might be in, but I don't want my child necessarily going out in a crop top. Being able to translate what's fashionable into what's appropriate and so that both mom and child are happy, I think is really important."
