So, what do we think Directioners?

When Vine and YouTube star Shawn Mendes was thinking about his latest cover, he wanted to go big. And by big, he totally meant a rendition of One Direction's newest single.

Wearing a black button-down and holding his signature guitar, the 17-year-old Canadian got in front of the camera and decided to deliver one memorable take on "Drag Me Down."

So how did he do? Pretty darn good! In just a few hours, #ShawnsNewCover began to trend around the country on Twitter as fans presumably put the hot new track on repeat.

For those asking about who Mr. Mendes is, where have you been let us fill you in.

The Canadian born star first stepped into the public eye with his viral videos on Vine. He would later begin covering popular artists on YouTube before getting national radio airplay for hit singles like "Life of the Party" and "Stitches."

In fact, superstar performer Taylor Swift immediately noticed Mendes' singing voice and charisma. As a result, she scooped him up to perform at several 1989 shows this summer.

The best part of this star—who already has 3.7 million Twitter followers—is the fact that he appears to be a pretty humble guy.

On Wednesday afternoon, Mendes found time to look back at all he has accomplished. But instead of bragging about his success, he's just grateful to have the opportunity to do what he loves.

"Looking back at videos of me a year ago and i looked like the biggest dork lmaoo," he wrote on Twitter. "Its gunna be really cool if im still doing music 10 years from now to watch videos from this year."

He added, "Well i have to be doing music 10 years from now. Got no back up plan LOL. Don't want to do anything other than music anyway! Xx"

In other words, nothing is going to drag this dude down!
