Is it October yet?!

There are just over two months before American Horror Story: Hotel premieres, and the more details we learn about it, the longer that wait starts to seem.

This season is especially exciting, given its gigantic cast of both AHS veterans and newcomers like Lady Gaga, Max Greenfield, and Darren Criss.

Clearly just to make us pine for October 7 even more, creator and executive producer Ryan Murphy spilled a whole lot during and after the show's panel at FX's summer press tour, particularly about a few cast members in particular.

Lily Rabe's role especially sounds pretty incredible, as Murphy revealed that she'll be playing the same famous serial killer who earned Charlize Theron her Oscar.

"Our Halloween episode this year is called ‘Devil's Night,'" Murphy said. "I'm directing it. Lily Rabe is coming to that episode, and she's playing Aileen Wuornos, which is really bizarre. She's at the centerpiece of that Halloween episode, and that's who she's playing."

Wuornos killed seven men between 1989 and 1990, and was played to great acclaim by Charlize Theron in the 2003 movie Monster. Theron even won the Best Actress Oscar for that role, and terrified us for the rest of time.

"In season 2, Jessica Lange told me that her greatest regret at this point in her career is that she didn't get to do Long Day's Journey into Night on broadway," Murphy said. "Other people had the rights to that, so I spent a year, just as a present to her, trying to get those rights."

"I said to her, I have a present for you, and that present was that play," he continued. "That play is happening in the spring, and she really wanted to take some time off and to prepare for that part, because it is such a massive undertaking. I think they start rehearsals later in the year, so it would not have worked with our production schedule, but yeah."

So, is she truly gone or could she possibly return next season? Murphy is giving us a serious amount of hope.

"I talk to Jessica all the time, and Jessica is one of those actors that if I went to her with the right part, I know she would say yes. She's said that to me. She's open to doing another season, two or three, or maybe if the part is big enough, a whole season. That's how it starts with her."

Is anyone else really missing the glory that would have been Jessica Lange going up against Lady Gaga this season? Darn you, Ryan Murphy!
