Donald Trump Responds to Gawker Publishing His Phone Number—Listen to His New Voicemail Message!

A new version the GOP frontrunner has embraced us with his presence before the debate this week and we don't know what to make of him

He is crushing every Republican in the polls, and as we prepare for the much hyped first GOP presidential debate on Thursday night, America cannot seem to get enough of Donald Trump. 

Yet have we seen the makings of a newer, less cantankerous Trump? Almost a Trump 2.0? 

It seems like eons ago when Trump gave out Lindsey Graham's phone number, bashed Rick Perry's intelligence, called a breastfeeding lawyer "terrible" and said John McCain wasn't a war hero. This new Trump seems to be talking about politics and issues more than throwing shade. 

All of this seems to be helping his poll numbers, so Trump called into MSNBC's Morning Joe Tuesday morning and—still in a very Trump style—explained why he is the leader of the pack thus far. 

"Well, I've had a great record of business," he said. "I mean, my business has been phenomenal and I built a great business. And the only reason I say that is because I think people concur with that. They see my projects all over the country, all over the world. They're great projects."

What Trump did not do on MSNBC was respond to Gawker publishing his phone number on Monday. The site's headline read: "Call Donald Trump's cell phone and ask him about his important ideas."

Well, after hours of waiting, the GOP hopeful finally responded on his Twitter, but not the way we would have expected. He didn't throw a major diss at Gawker or bash the site like he has done with numerous other publications. Trump 2.0 spun the negative into a positive by thanking the site and told everyone to call the number and listen to a special campaign message.

E! News has called the number multiple times and has thus far only received a busy signal. 

However, NBC News was able to connect to hear the message, which tells listeners, "Hi this is Donald Trump and I'm running for the presidency of United States of America. With your help and support, together we can make America truly great again." He concludes the message by saying, "Hope to see you on the campaign trail—we're going to do it!"

Trump 2.0. Still just as snarky, but obviously making us extremely curious to see which version will appear at Thursday's debate.
