While Adam Levine recently joined the ranks of the married, now two of his fellow coaches on The Voice are going through divorces.
Blake Shelton, whose now ex-wife Miranda Lambert has performed and served as a guest mentor on the show as well, is actually already divorced, the country music super-stars having waited until the split was a done deal before they shared the news with the world.
But just today, Gwen Stefani prompted a collective sad sigh as news broke that she and Gavin Rossdale are divorcing after 13 years of marriage.
Don't speak, we know what you're thinking.
Also, today, however: Reba McEntire revealed that she and husband Narvel Blackstock separated a few months ago after 26 years together.
It's an epidemic!
OK, let's just make sure that other spouses and significant others are present and accounted for:
• Adam Levine: The recently shorn Maroon 5 frontman is entertaining his model wife and her friends in a beautiful setting.
• Christina Aguilera: Happily taking her kids to the zoo with fiancé Matt Rutler.
• Pharrell Williams: The couple that wear suits to the Oscars together stays together.
Gwen will be swapping in again for Christina and joining Blake, Adam and Pharrell on The Voice's upcoming ninth season, premiering Sept. 21 on NBC.
But while it's easy to cry "curse!" after the seeming spate of splits, it's also just as easy to conclude coincidence.
Just like Blake and Miranda, Gavin and Gwen (let alone Reba and Narvel) were dealing with the same busy schedules, weeks at a time spent apart and the associated rigors of rock star life. Marriage can be tough at any given time for any couple, let alone those whose entire courtship and subsequent union played out in the spotlight.
"I obviously have a close connection with Blake...Sad times," The Voice host Carson Daly said on Today a couple weeks ago in response to his pal's split news. "Yesterday what was really sad about this is the idea of love and marriage seems to be a dying art for a lot of people...people were so saddened by that news."
Alas, both of Daly's supportive shoulders are now taken this season.
