Byron Keulemans/Comedy CentralIt's the end of an era, but not the end of The Daily Show. Jon Stewart is set to exit the show on August 6, and during the 2015 summer TCA press tour, his replacement Trevor Noah revealed things might change a little bit with him at the helm.
"In terms of the show physically, we're obviously changing the sets a tiny bit," Noah told the room full of reporters. "But we still want the show to be recognized as The Daily Show because that's what it still is."
As for the content of the show, expect The Daily Show to tackle the same issues even with a new host.
"Issues are not really changing in America and in the world," Noah said. "Really, it's just a different angle that we're looking at things from, and it's my angle. The show still has its voice but it's just that I'm at the helm, taking things in a slightly different direction, but still trying to get to the same end place."
When asked to elaborate on his "different direction," Noah explained that it comes from his different background and point of view than Stewart's.
"Jon is a white, 52-year-old Jewish guy that grew up in New Jersey. I am a 31-year-old, half-black, half-white South African who's lived in America for a few years on and off," Noah said. "The way we look at the same story would be completely different, the way we tackle an issue would be completely different because we have different access to certain jokes. Different filters on the same news."
The Daily Show With Trevor Noah is set to premiere Monday, September 28 on Comedy Central.
