After she and Nicki Minaj hashed it out on Twitter following MTV's announcement of this year's nominees for the Video Music Awards, Swift is saying sorry. It all began when Minaj tweeted her frustration about the lack of nominations for "Anaconda" and "Feelin' Myself."
"If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for vid of the year. Oh but trust me. I'll be on that stage to collect my awards for vid of the year. Feeling Myself & Anaconda," the outspoken rapper wrote.
But Swift and her fans took it personally (despite having zero names mentioned), believing that it was an attack against her music video for "Bad Blood," which definitely features pretty slender women. She responded to Minaj's tweet, writing, "@NICKIMINAJ I've done nothing but love & support you. It's unlike you to pit women against each other. Maybe one of the men took your slot."
Minaj defended herself and explained that her tweet was more about the "white media and their tactics." The back-and-forth went on and on, causing other celebrities, including Katy Perry, to weigh in on the headline-making fiasco. Even though T.Swift and the "Starships" crooner seemingly had put their fight to bed, Perry couldn't help but take a dig at her rumored enemy.
"Finding it ironic to parade the pit women against other women argument about as one unmeasurably capitalizes on the take down of a woman..." she wrote.
Although the tweet might seem a tad incomprehensible, the gist of it is Perry's calling Swift a hypocrite since the 25-year-old pop star penned her hit "Bad Blood" about her ongoing feud with her (Minaj has since favorited the tweet).
Seeing as the VMAs feud has reached new heights, Swift decided to take the high road and apologize to Minaj directly (via Twitter, of course).
"I thought I was being called out. I missed the point, I misunderstood, then misspoke. I'm sorry, Nicki. @NICKIMINAJ," she posted Thursday.
Nicki responded to T.Swift's tweet and wrote, "That means so much Taylor, thank you. @taylorswift13." She also included a few red heart emojis, so there really is no more "Bad Blood" between them!
