Talk about ruff-housing (sorry we had to)!

Vice President Joe Biden made headlines today when he appeared alongside President Barack Obama in the East Room at the White House for an event celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

The 72-year-old politician was seen was a small bruise on the side of his lower lip; the injury did not appear to be serious.

So, what happened?!

The vice president's office told reporters that Biden got the bruise by playing with his dog, a German Shepherd named Champ.

While he did not speak at the event, he appeared to be on the mend and was seen flashing a small smile as he stood beside POTUS.

Champ has been a loyal member of Biden brood for some time. Per a 2010 Politico report, the purebred pooch "an early riser. He often encourages the vice president to take a walk before the sun even comes up."

Citing a White House aide, the article also states Champ "has usually exhausted himself, and can be found curled up on the couch helping Dr. [Jill] Biden grade her papers or at the front door casually greeting and sniffing anyone who enters."

Here's hoping Champ wasn't denied his treats for too long!
