Watch: Christina Hendricks Is Already Researching Emmy Fashion!

There was a time when Christina Hendricks had a very elaborate way of trying to find her perfect look for the Emmys.

She told me back in 2013 that she used to put together a binder of inspirations and ideas, which included photos from magazines, sketches, Post-it notes, fabric swatches and more.

But no more!

"I've started my research as of this morning [on the Internet]," Hendricks, who picked up her sixth Emmy nomination last week for outstanding supporting actress in a drama series for her work as Joan on Mad Men, told me yesterday while promoting her new drama thriller, Dark Places.

"Now I'm using Pinterest. I'm moving into the future! I don't have to do the tear sheets and the little plastic [sleeves] and the little notebooks. I'm taking advantage of technology."

The fun has just begun with the Emmys not being handed out until Sept. 20. "No colors picked out, [but] I have certain designers who I love so we're going to make some phone calls and see what we can find," Hendricks said.

In Dark Places, she plays Patty, Charlize Theron's mom in flashback scenes. Patty is a single mom of four struggling hard to make ends meet as the family farm is on the brink of foreclosure. The movie, adapted from Gillian Flynn's novel of the same name, centers on Theron's character's search to find out what really happened when her family was murdered when she was a young girl. Corey Stoll plays her brother, who has spent almost 30 years in jail after being convicted of the gruesome killings.

So has Hendricks asked Theron to call her Mom? "I [have] not and I don't know if I want her to call me Mom," Hendricks said, laughing. "I say, 'I'm playing Charlize's mom' and [people] say, 'Aren't you about the same age?'"

They sure are—Hendricks turned 40 in May while Theron marks the same milestone on Aug. 7.

Perhaps they can play sisters next?

Dark Places is available now on DirecTV and will be in theaters Aug. 7.
