With New York Men's Fashion Week in full swing, we're fervently reminded of our affinity for borrowing from the boys—at least in the fashion department. While our boyfriends' closets may not be up to snuff for actual borrowing purposes, we're still keen on taking style cues from their better dressed counterparts.

To narrow in on wearable menswear-inspired trends, we caught up with E! Style Collective expert Zanna Roberts Rassi, who was fresh off the heels, err, sneakers of the Rag & Bone show—which, instead of producing a standard runway show, opted to showcase their collection in a short film directed by Georgie Greville of Legs.

Zanna is a huge fan of stealing from the gents, and right now she's "really drawn to the long, fitted jackets and blazers seen at Thom Browne and Eponymovs." She's so smitten, in fact, that she'd love to see a return to sharp menswear and tailoring on the women's side of the spectrum.

When it comes down to it, worry less about the distinction between menswear and womenswear. These days in fashion, "it's all about being asexual—after all cool clothes are cool clothes," she said.

With Zanna's blessing and practiced tips, even the most novice of dressers will find menswear silhouettes easy to implement.

Start with an oversized white button-up. As a starting-off point, Zanna recommended the ever-classic button-up. "It goes with just about anything in your wardrobe and it can be manipulated in so many creative ways," she noted. Her picks for pairing? Wide leg pants, boyfriend jeans or even a flirty skirt with a set of heels for a more feminine take.

Acne Studios White Button Down, $290; Topshop Wide Leg Strip Trouser, $70; Rialto Painterly Boyfriend Jeans, $245; Alice+Olivia Earla Printed Cotton Skirt, $427; Dress Gallery Shiny Skirt, $145 Charlotte Olympia Decorative Vamp Embellished Faille Pumps, $795

Throw sneakers on with everything! Another layer, and quite possibly Zanna's favorite, is teaming a pair of clean white trainers with cool dresses (especially from Preen or Burberry) for a still chic but more practical alterative to heels.

Preen by Thorton Bregazzi, $1,203; Giuseppe Zanotti May London Snake-Effect Leather Sneakers, $640; Rebecca Minkoff Perforated White Sneaker, $222; Miu Miu Metallic-Toe Sport Sneakers, $495; Steve Madden ‘Ecentrcq' Sneaker, $60

Don't be afraid to mix and match your accessories! "I love it when a masculine look is turned on its head with a pair of bold heels or a metallic clutch and layered jewelry," she said. Playing around with your accessories will help you achieve the perfect balance between masculine and feminine.

Alexander McQueen De Manta Metallic Clutch, $745; Loeffler Randall Junior Lock Metallic Clutch, $250; Schutz Woven Platform Heels, $196; Jeffrey Campbell Meryl Floral Heel, $180; Alice+Olivia Dina Color Block Heel, $295; Elizabeth and James Astral Pave White Topaz Ring, $95; Marc by Marc Jacobs Broken Hearted Pendant Necklace, $68; Alexis Bittar Long Spear Necklace, $155
