Future is revealing the real reason why he split with Ciara, and it's, well, interesting.

The 31-year-old rapper stopped by HuffPost Live on Monday, where he was asked about his failed engagement to the 29-year-old singer, with whom he shares one son Future Zahir Wilburn. The two called it quits in December 2014 after being plagued with rumors that the "Bugatti" rapper cheated.

"Everybody already had their speculation on what happened. A lot of people said, 'Man, he cheated'…But our relationship had nothing to do with cheating. We grew apart," he explained. "When you're a man, you want to make decisions for your family, and sometimes the lady doesn't see what you see… I called [the engagement] off way before any cheating rumors came out. The engagement was already off."

Asked if the decision to split was mutual, Future replied "I said it wasn't going to work," adding, "She wasn't too mad because I explained it to her."

US Weekly previously reported that the "I Bet" beauty called it quits with her then-fiancé after she allegedly caught him cheating, just three months after the songstress gave birth to her first child. A source told E! News at the time that she was "very embarrassed" by the reports.

"She's definitely not talking about it," an insider said. "Who could blame her? It's a hard time for her. She's humiliated and angry."

Future continued, saying he didn't want to deal with the headlines that come from a high-profile relationship.

"I was like ‘I'll marry you today. You want to get married, let's get married.' But I'm not getting married with all these different people in my wedding," he explained. "My family have to be there. I'm from the hood, hood people going to be there. It might be people that you don't like that's going to be there. But I know they love me, they got my best interest...I don't want nobody from the industry there, I don't want the media there. You know how girls have their fairy tale weddings, this how they pick it.

He added: ''Soon as I get married and I go in the strip club, they're going to be like ‘Ciara's husband is in the strip club!' They going always put something on it. They're going to have a story to tell and I don't want that headline story."

In spite of their breakup, Future said he and Ciara were "still living together" after the split.

"We were like best friends and I told her how I felt...She was like, ‘Nah, I just took pictures' with the bridal thing… So it was like more of embarrassment and I felt embarrassed for her because you love someone you don't want them to feel uncomfortable," he revealed.

Asked whether he and Ciara chose to abstain from sex like she and Wilson, Future replied, "God told me something else. He ain't tell me to wait. I guarantee you that. We prayed afterwards though. After we did it, we prayed. That's a true story."

Ciara has since seemingly responded to her exes interview on Twitter.
