Fresh off the heels of her headline-making debate on The View, Candace Cameron Bure has defended her remarks in an interview with The Blaze's The Church Boys podcast

On Tuesday, Raven-Symoné and the Fuller House star clashed on the ABC talk show when the two feuded over whether a bakery in Oregon had the right to refuse to bake a cake for a lesbian wedding (host Whoopi Goldberg revealed that the owners of the bakery were asked to pay the couple $135,000).

"I don't think this is discrimination at all, this is about freedom of association, it's about constitutional rights, it's about First Amendment rights," the outspoken conservative said before Symoné interjected "I refuse to associate myself with you right now."

In response to the backlash their heated chat generated, the Christian star, who has made no secret of her biblical beliefs, spoke to The Blaze podcast and admitted she was nervous for the discussion, which she deemed "uncharted territory."

"I wanted to be as truthful and honest and speak in love as much as I could, but just be factual about things," the former DWTS star said, adding that her fight with Raven made for "good television."

"I wasn't there to debate gay marriage or straight marriage. It was about these bakers and their religious freedoms and the freedom of association," she explained.

Cameron Bure continued, clarifying one point she made on The View when Goldberg asked her if the couple was invited to the wedding (at the time, she said no).

"When I went and did a little more research, they in fact were invited to the wedding and that was part of the problem. That they wanted them to be at the reception to cut the cake and present the cake," she said, "And, again, it just came down to them having the feeling it conflicted with their religion."

She later revealed that she and Raven hugged during a commercial break and agreed to disagree.

"My favorite part were all the texts that I got from my … very close gay friends that were saying, ‘We love you and we can all have different opinions and you fight for what you believe in ,'" she said. "And I'm going to fight for what I believe in."
