After much anticipation, Sony has released the first trailer for the forthcoming Goosebumps movie and we could not be more excited.

Based on the famous R.L. Stine series of the same name, the clip features Jack Black playing a fictional version of the 71-year-old author, who, as his niece Hannah (Odeya Rush) describes "doesn't really like anyone" (which, is fairly obvious based on his cold-hearted demeanor).

The clip centers on teen Zach Cooper (Dylan Minnette), who recently moved in next door to the spooky author and ends up befriending his niece. But, their friendship takes an unexpected turn when Cooper accidentally releases Stine's fictional demons, which happen to be inhabiting his manuscripts.

"You just released every monster I have ever dreamed," Black says in the clip as the town of Greendale, Md. runs from a stampede of imaginary creatures.

The 45-year-old actor premiered the trailer this morning on Good Morning America, where he also shared his excitement for the upcoming project.

"The movie turned out dynamite," he said. "I'm so excited because the books are really funny and scary and exciting and we just wanted the movie to be as awesome and cool as the book series was and I think we cracked the code."

Goosebumps, which also stars Halston Sage and Amy Ryan, is scheduled to hit theaters on October 16, 2015.
