Sources tell NBC News that the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office has decided not to press charges against the hip-hop mogul in connection with his arrest June 22 for allegedly wielding a kettlebell during an altercation with a UCLA football coach while visiting his son Justin on campus. He was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and released on bail.
With the D.A. opting to pass, Combs is in the clear with regard to being charged with a felony, but the L.A. City Attorney's Office can now decide whether to file misdemeanor charges against him.
Through his representation, Combs has maintained that he was acting in self-defense during his altercation with strength and conditioning coach Sal Alosi.
Bruins head coach Jim Mora said in a statement after the incident that they would let the investigation run its course and withhold further comment.
Meanwhile, minus his scary-looking stumble onstage, Diddy didn't seem too troubled by his legal issues during his Bad Boy reunion at the 2015 BET Awards last Sunday—and he's been getting plenty of public support from his son, who plays football for UCLA.
"Thanks for always being there for me," Justin wrote on Instagram a day after his dad's arrest, while Diddy posted the same father-son pic with the hashtag "#FamilyFirst."
