Amanda Seyfried has babies on the brain!

The actress attended the premiere of Universal Pictures' Ted 2 at the Ziegfeld Theater in New York City, where she turned heads in a Mugler dress, Christian Louboutin shoes, and Jacob & Co. earrings. Pointing to her braided hair, she jokingly told E! News that she was giving fashion critics a "flashback to the '90s!"

"That's [Renato Campora], for you. My hairstylist," Seyfried explained.

Campora often gets her to try new looks. "I've been with him a long time," she said.

In the R-rated comedy Ted 2, in theaters Friday, Seyfried plays a young attorney named Samantha Leslie Jackson who makes a case that Ted (voiced by Seth MacFarlane) should be seen as a human being in the eyes of the law. "I signed on to this movie having no idea what I was going to be doing in it," recalled Seyfried, who first worked with him for Universal Pictures' 2014 film A Million Ways to Die in the West. "I just knew that Seth's like, 'We're going to take the story in another direction. We need a girl to bring in a new dynamic,'" she said of the Mark Wahlberg-led film. "I was like, 'Mmm, do I trust you? Yeah! All right. Count me in!'"

The actress reveled at the chance to play a "really strong woman" like Samantha, saying, "I get to do those closing and opening arguments, and it's really powerful."

In real life, Seyfried admitted, "I would never be a lawyer!"

How else does Seyfried differ from the characters she's played?

"I got married so many times in my life—onscreen!" she said with a laugh. As such, she said, "I don't want a white dress! I've worn so many of them. You know what I mean? The fact is, that kind of stuff is less about the ceremony and more about the commitment. So it's like children. That's where it's at, right? For me. But it's different for everybody." Seyfried isn't rushing into marriage with Justin Long. "I'm only 29—or I'm almost 30! See, there's such a small gap there! It's crazy."

Regarding her timetable for having children, the actress told E! News, "I'd like to have one in the next four or five years. And the second one can happen between 35 and 40. Or I can adopt...It's fine. I definitely want to a couple kids."

Long couldn't attend the premiere, but that didn't dampen Seyfried's spirits. Who did she bring instead? "Seth! My buddy. He's my date tonight," the actress said of her single co-star. "We both don't have dates, so we came together. Well, my mom's here, and his dad's here, and we've all got our friends."
